When it's early in the morning, like it is now on this side of the globe, you can only listen to a certain type of music. You can either be trying to wake yourself up with loud House music or ease into the day with slow, relaxing song. We, at Ears Peeled, chose the latter with The Lone Bellow's "Then Came The Morning"...
We know it has been a while since you guys have heard from us, but as we said, we were looking for new artists. Bright, talented, up-and-comers that are going to make a mark in the industry and just focus on them. Ánders, a brand new young talent, fitting the description caught our ears with the gorgeous, "You Didn't Need My Love", out of his debut EP.
Not many girl bands get our attention here at Ears Peeled. Aside from the classic ones, like Spice Girls, TLC and such, we are not really impressed/convinced by the more modern versions to actually get their songs stuck in our heads. One (of the very few) exceptions is the band HAIM and their very catchy "Forever". Click here to see why...
Maybe it's the good night rest or the Saturday morning feeling, but there is something in the air today that feels amazing, no wait... scratch that, beatific. So it's almost natural that the one song to be stuck in our heads for the day is none other than Hozier's glorious "Take Me To Church".
We were getting seriously worried when almost a month had gone by and we had no song stuck in our head: no waking up with a particular tune deliciously torturing us all day, no soundtrack to our dreams. Honest to God worried. Borderline panicking. Was is the daily stress affecting the obsessively musical side of our brain? Had we not been in contact with new music for too long? Were we getting blasé? Just when we were about to drop everything and check ourselves for a much needed music retreat, we wake up this morning with Wankelmut's "My Head Is A Jungle", featuring the excellent Emma Louise, and can not get it un-stuck. THANK YOU Wankelmut ft. Emma Louis, thank you! We still got it!
First listen and it was love. We have never been disappointed by Josef Salvat before and it seems we will never be. 'Shoot And Run' is one of those songs that you know at once will be one of your favorites for ever. Keep reading, have a listen and see what we are gushing about for yourself...
Once again it's Sunday, but not just a typical boring Sunday afternoon. It's the kind that hot, tiring and most importantly depressing Sunday, when you are stuck at home and either don't have the will power or the means to go out and actually do something. Well, whether you believe it or not, there is a song for this kind of moment in life. It's called "Harry's Code" and it's by Knox Brown. Check it out, it will make your day suck less...
Every summer deserves at least one funky song that will mentally transport you to a very luxurious and decadent pool party in Santorini or Dubai, or wherever you know you couldn't afford to go in real life. It usually has a late 60's-early 70's vibe and is hard to resist. This year, my vote goes to "My Type" by Saint Motel. You may try not to dance, qualifying it as too retro and cheesy for your modern taste, stating that House music is the only way when it comes to summer, but you will fail my friend. You will fail miserably...
To qualify 'Fever To The Form' as the Song Of The Day would be an understatement. This is easily a contender for Song of the Year. There is no way not to love this latest single by amazingly relaxing artist Nick Mulvey. We don't know where to start to explain just why this song is so good. But we'll give it a try. Read on...
