When it's early in the morning, like it is now on this side of the globe, you can only listen to a certain type of music. You can either be trying to wake yourself up with loud House music or ease into the day with slow, relaxing song. We, at Ears Peeled, chose the latter with The Lone Bellow's "Then Came The Morning"...
We noticed lately that all the young'uns are going back to the 60's/70's to find inspiration. We can only agree, because as we all know, it was music's finest era. In this case, we hear a little 60's RnB and a touch of Elvis. That's the thing though, The Lone Bellows aren't doing a musical carbon copy, they prefer to mix it up with a little mid-90's pop/folk romanticism. This is the symbolization of the "it's-going-to-be-ok feeling that comes with a new day. The kind you get after a particularly tough night.
In other words, comfort and hope in a song.
With Aaron Dessner as producer for the up-coming album, next year, it's hard not to anticipate a hit and probably an album-of-the-year. If the other songs are as beautifully written as "Then Came The Morning", we can safely predict greatness in The Lone Bellow's future.
