I love when an artist no matter what genre he plays is not exactly one of the A-list but is just as good, if not better. It's like my way of mocking the popularity system that encompasses the music industry. As an artist that I respect and actually love, I blame lack of time as the only reason as to why I'd never written a post on Burns. Honestly one of the best DJs out there and one who has me counting the days when he'll become one of the number ones...because yes, there are many number ones.
A pretty discreet artist, I believe Matthew James Burns (fantastic name by the way!) let his excellent music do all the talking. For reasons that I do not understand, he has only released one album, in 2010 "This is Burns 001 - European Sex Music - Part 1", (love the name by the way!). He has, however released multiples EP, since 2009 and been remixing songs officially since 2008. He has collaborated with a pleiad of big names from Calvin Harris, Lana del Rey, Gossip, Charli XCX and Hurts just to name a few.
After spending a whole day listening to his music, (God bless Soundcloud!) and even if I love his older sound, I have a much stronger penchant for his new sound. My favourite is "Lies", a couple of year old already but the best in my ears. I love it so much in fact, that I had previously mentioned it as Song of the Day. What I love about it is, this is pure raw club music. The kind that makes you close your eyes and just let the crowd carry you away. There is no unnecessary embellishments, no superficial sounds, effects... just great rave music.
It's clear that for me, good music, no matter what genre, is good when it makes you feel something, anything, when it has that effect on you that you can't really describe but you know makes you feel good. Well this is the effect that Burns music has on me; and it varies from relaxing and/or liberating, like with "Poison/ No One Else" (feat. Dems) to exhilarating like with "Get Loud". Let's just say it, we love range and an artist who provides such range is brilliant.
Recently, he's been touring mainly in America and Mexico with fellow DJ and pal Calvin Harris, but he his back in Europe to get ready for the Festivals. He twitted earlier today that he would be performing at Cream Amnesia in Ibiza this Summer. New music seem to be coming in a near future as he also mentioned, also via Twitter on the 16th of March with a slight specification earlier today.

So now, he just has us all, waiting impatiently wondering what will be the next track. Will it be another tune like "Lies" or the excellent "Limitless" before it or just some new sound that is going to completely blow our mind?
I am emotionally ready. Hit me.
