This year has brought us a batch of newcomers from every different genre out there. Some great, some not so great, but all always (most of the time) entertaining. We've had the privilege to interview some of these stars in the making, and get an idea of who they are and how they work. One thing is for sure, the Top 5 named below have all worked long and hard for the success they have obtained. You can be sure of one thing: you will hear about them in 2015. Let's see who made the cut...
Starting at #5, is Coasts. Once upon a time, a Discovery right here at Earspeeled. Gone are those days as they have skyrocketed throughout the year: playing at the BBC Introducing Stage at the Radio 1 Big Weekend for example, and producing such hits as "Rush Of Blood" that went straight on the top for most radio stations all over. When we start with them, this kind of gives you a taste of things to come no? Hands down THE funkiest band out there now. Jungle just exploded in style everywhere at the same time it seems! Gathering fans from the common music lovers to the biggest names in the industry. Sticking to their very distinctive funk sound, they are quickly becoming everyone's favorite band. They stand at #3 with us here. FKA Twigs is back with a vengeance as our #1 Newcomer Of The Year, after previously being chosen as #4 Artist Of The Year. Her list of achievements is ridiculous enough to make her #1... twice! Awards nominations, sold out concerts around the globe, a brand new critically acclaimed LP, increasing number of loyal fans... 2014 was truly the year of the Twigs. Congrats! | At #4 is that little band known as Years and Years. They gradually came out of the dark, shyly at first with "Real" in February, then "Take Shelter" back in August, that got them nominated for the BBC Sound of 2015 and MTV Brand New for 2015. They then came out full force on the airways with "Desire" in November. After that, if before only a few select people knew about them, they had now become bona fide stars. We expect great things from them come next year. Also on the Artist Of The Year list, Royal Blood goes up 2 spots in this countdown to #2. They were this year's golden child of Rock and were on everyone's radar, from magazines to radio, festivals and television. They were nominated for awards and topping international charts in various country. There is no denying, this year has been good to them. Wishing them even more success in 2015. |
