It's been quite some time since we've had a good countdown and lately I was feeling a bit nostalgic, going through songs that made my childhood awesome, music wise. Though I was born in the 80's (no need to be specific!) it was 90's music that most influenced me. Songs that you couldn't escape, artists that were either huge or one hit wonders. Bottom line, the music was good and those were the days.
I was able to sum them up and pick the top 5 that usually come to my mind when I think about those childhood classics. For those of you who are 25 and up, I know this will bring a smile to your face.

If you remember this song, then, officially your childhood was awesome. With a beat that got you dancing (or at least swaying) and lyrics that you didn't know were as provocative back then, Inner Circle's "Sweat" was one of the two songs that played all day, every day. It just gave you this feeling of happiness that comes with summer. | Going with the slow reggae vibe, Big Mountain gave us one of the best, classic and brilliant love tunes ever. I do believe that this song has the power to put a smile on anyone's face and warm anyone's heart. It combines the cool early 90's vibe with the simplest declaration of love. This one is for the cool lovers out there. |
A classic tune by The King himself, "Can't Help Falling In Love" was covered by one of the coolest, most laid-back band out there. UB-40 redid the love song in a more reggae tune that gave it the right edge to keep it sweet but make it cool. | One of the most popular love songs out there, possibly a favourite at weddings too, "I Swear" was All 4 One's number 1 song. Though all their music was great, this was the reference to all their future songs. A great tune that played throughout heartbroken/swooning teenagers bedrooms all over the world for a loooong period of time. |
| Another cover on the countdown that transformed a song from super sweet to unbelievably cool. The Police made "Every Breath You Take" one of the greatest love songs but (formerly known as) Puff Daffy, Faith Evans and 112 made it one of the best songs of 1997. And the years that followed. |
