Caught a ghost is, in my opinion, the most unfairly underrated band. Sheer genius is how I'd describe their sound. They go from "Sleeping at Night" or "Connected" to "No Sugar in my coffee" or "Time Go", without you even noticing the change of genre. There is an organic flow between songs, the progression is fluid. You "sink" into the music.
I am embarrassed to say to it's only recently that I've had the chance to discover and appreciate the great band that is AWOLNATION. Two years after they've been created, I am falling in love with them.
I'm not sure how to categorize them, what genre they play. Sometimes it's rock, like "Soul Wars", romantic love song like "All I need", feel good tune with "Kill Your Heroes" or electronic head banger like "Sail"... you never fall into a routine with lead singer Aaron Bruno, which is his strong point for him. Due to unplanned circumstances, all 4 remaining candidates for Top 5 Artists of 2013 will be mentioned in this one post! Sorry, I wish I could give more details on each but some things you can't avoid! So here goes:
2013 is almost out the door... Musically, it has been a great one. At least to me! I've discovered more music, more bands and more artists in those 360 days than all my years before. It's because my brain was overloading on so much music that the idea of doing this blog came up. Of course, it wasn't all beautiful songs. There have been some terrible, cringe worthy tracks as well, don't get me wrong! But why end on a sour note? Let's focus on the good things and bring a positive aura to the year to come. From now until the 31th, I will post the 5 most mentionable artists of 2013.
Sometimes you need to "feel your momentum, get into your zone, right?" Disclosure helps you with that. Whether with "You & Me" or "Latch", the electronic sounds just keep you in the moment, enjoying.
Though I only discovered him by accident, I have been under the spell of his music instantly. And how could I not! Have you heard his songs? All you have to do is listen to "Ghost Lights" and you will feel the same as me.
Today, November 5th 2013 is a big anniversary for Hurts Family (Hurts fandom), of wich I am a proud member. It's been 4 years today since the creation of a band, though still very "underground", yet very influential. If you spend one day on twitter, reading fans posts, you'll have an idea of the influence this band has had on them. If you interact with some of them, you'll understand why this day is special.
Tough existing since 2009, Imagine Dragons really exploded in 2012 with their first studio album "Night Visions". Before that they had released 8 EP's with "It's Time" as their first single. This alt-rock band of 4 has that classic pop/rock sound that makes them so agreeable to listen to.
I love house music. Even if you notice that the music I usually talk about is alternative or ballads or pop, house is one of my main loves. I can spend a whole day listening to only that without any problems. My wake up and feel good playlist are constituted of more than 80% house music, that's just the way I guarantee my good mood and high production levels for the day.
