I like discovering new bands and new music. It always feels like finding a treasure. Especially if I actually become a huge fan after. I don't discriminate against any kind of music in particular, so in the "Underdog" section of this blog, you might stumble upon a little bit of everything.
A few months ago, I was introduced by a friend to the music of Arcane Roots. I had never heard of them before at all. He insisted that they were the sort of band that I'd like, so I gave it a go and turns out, he was right. I do like them.

Though I've only recently discovered them (shame on me!), they've been going strong for quite some time now, being around officially since about 2006, with a few changes along the way, but always with good music. In February 2011, they released their first EP "Left Fire", then a couple of years later their first studio album "Blood & Chemistry".
I would categorize them as alternative rock, but in my (VERY OWN, mind you!) opinion, some of their songs have sort of a jazzy feel to them. Like for instance, "You Are" (my favorite) from "Left Fire". It might be the bass, I don't know.
A stand-out tune in the "Blood & Chemistry" album is "Belief"; all of the songs beauty stands in it's melody. The sudden change at the ending added a great edge that kind of reminded me of Unkle's "Burn My Shadow", which is an awesome song in it's own right. So, kudos!
The lead singer, Andrew Groves's voice is stellar. He hits those high notes perfectly, and in the videos you can see concentration and passion in Daryl Atkins (Drums) and Adam Burton's (Bass) performances. In short, their hard work and dedication has paid off because, let's be honest, their music is excellent.
They spent this Summer at various festivals such as Reading and Underground, showcasing their talent and now are on tour as support for Muse for some of their EU gigs.
Be sure to catch them on tour, because they have a reputation for wild performances, the kind you wouldn't want to miss.
