Today, November 5th 2013 is a big anniversary for Hurts Family (Hurts fandom), of wich I am a proud member. It's been 4 years today since the creation of a band, though still very "underground", yet very influential. If you spend one day on twitter, reading fans posts, you'll have an idea of the influence this band has had on them. If you interact with some of them, you'll understand why this day is special.
When they decided to part from Daggers (their previous band) and form Hurts, Theo Hutchcraft and Adam Anderson took a leap of faith. This same faith (and a very precise vision of what they wanted to achieve) got them to make a simple black and white video for 20 pounds which would change their lives forever... and ours.
Now though they are the faces of the band, Hurts wouldn't be the same without the actual band and dancers. The sound would be different with Lael Goldberg's bass, Paul Walsham's drums, Pete Watson keyboard and Amy May's violin. They are the ones that make the live performances truly resonating. The acoustic versions of the songs are stunning, don't get me wrong, but when they all play together, it's different. It's grand. Now, I will certainly not forget about the gorgeous dancers that are Caroline Royce and Emily Rumbles noticeably absent, by the way (BRING THEM BACK!), at the last few gigs. They are probably the only thing that can make you turn your eyes away from Theo and Adam.
Now with a new studio album out since March and a European Tour in process, the boys are living the dream.
I wish them a Happy Anniversary and many many more years of making our lives a little more beautiful with every new song, video, performances, interviews... well you get it.
At only 4 years old, they are big boys now.
HAPPY 4 YEARS ANNIVERSARY! JOYEUX ANNIVERSAIRE!
Below is a lovely fan-made video by "Nicole Hurts", just for the occasion. They are spoiled... and they deserve it!
